21st illustration of 山海经 (The Classic of Mountains and Seas) - 鴽魮鱼(Rúpí Yú)
Two hundred and twenty miles to the west was the mountain where birds and mice live together, where there were many white tigers and jades. The Lanshui River originates from the west and flows into the Han River, where there was the habitat of many Rupi fish, its shape like a covered pot, with a bird's head and fish fins and tail. They make sounds like chimes and it was said that this was the sound when they start producing pearls and jade. From here the inspiration idea come out to draw a shell-shaped pot as a depiction.
