My 12th illustration of 山海经(Classic of Mountains and Seas) - 寓鸟(Yù Niǎo)
Three hundred and eighty miles further north is a mountain called Guoshan. There are many lacquer trees on the mountain, many tung trees and elm trees at the foot of the mountain. There is a lot of jade on the south side of the mountain and a lot of iron on the north side. The Yi River originates from Guoshan and flows westward into the Yellow River. The wild animals in the mountain are mostly camels, and the birds are mostly gullwing birds. This bird is similar in shape to a mouse, has bird-like wings, and makes a sound like a sheep, while other sources say it belongs to the bat family. People can use it to defend against the harm of weapons.
